Right off the bat, let me state what you will find to be true if you wisely choose to work with Laura: she is a superb agent who will guide you through the home buying or selling process and get you a great deal. But every agent is going to tell you that, so how can you separate the wheat from the chaff? Here, I’ll let our experience with her show you what sets her apart. After living by herself for over a year after losing my father, my elderly mother realized it was time to sell her home and downsize. Naively, I thought we may not even need to enlist the services of an agent. Everything I had heard about real estate was that it was simple, that it all boiled down to “location, location, location.” And location we had! - a really fantastic neighborhood in a solid community. Thankfully, my mother decided to meet with a few agents before going solo, and this was how Laura entered our lives. She had come recommended through a friend. The first sign of Laura’s incredible commitment was that she met with both of us for two hours on a Sunday. Neither of us had ever been through a real estate transaction before (or at least my mother hadn’t been through one in about 50 years…) and, suffice to say, we had A LOT of questions! Laura patiently and clearly answered all of our questions, and never once did we feel she was trying to rush out of there, nor did we feel she was ever trying to pressure us into signing with her. Rather, she empathized with our situation and wanted to help in any way that she could. That is what you’re getting when you hire Laura: someone who wants to be with you every step of the way, and guide you through what can be one of the most stressful periods in your life. And she was there for every. single. step. I became intimately involved in this process and from time-to-time would ask my mother how things with Laura were going. I heard so many good things that for a period the cynic in me was convinced there had to be a catch - but there wasn’t. Laura was always on time. Laura assessed our home and gave us the punch list for what had to happen before we put it on the market. Laura got affordable, yet quality people to come and do some things to get our house up to snuff - her contact list is endless. At every critical juncture, Laura explained our options, the pros and cons, and let us know what she thought was best, but again, never pressured us into any decisions. When a prospective buyer shared a damning home inspection report that made my mother and I feel like we’d never sell the home, right away Laura was on the phone with a flipper who had come by a few weeks ago, and got them to make an offer that, given what the inspection report found, was an incredible deal for us. After all of the hours she put in, and in working that miracle of selling our home, we already thought Laura was a gift. But that was just the beginning! Laura was committed to helping my mom find her new dream home. Like the selling of our home, the new home purchasing process was also fraught with twists and turns. But just like she had been over the last 4 months with us, Laura was dogged in her determination, and because of that, she got my mom into the highly in-demand 55+ community in our hometown, the exact place my mother wanted to live. Of course the timing between the sale of our old home and the closing on this new home left a month long gap. So what did Laura do? She called all over the area and drove around with my mom to find her temporary housing. She was able to get my mom a really great deal at a local inn. In summary, over the span of about six months, Laura got our house sold for a great price, got my mom into the adult living community she had been dreaming about, and set her up in temporary housing to bridge the gap. Before I close, I must emphasize how deeply empathetic and emotionally supportive Laura is, while also being the consummate professional. My mother was incredibly fragile during this period and was ready to give up on numerous occasions. Amazingly, Laura knew exactly how to support my mother through this process while continuing to move it forward. Moving it forward quickly was critical here, as our home and property were dangerous to navigate alone for mother with her health and balance issues. It scares me to think of my mom having to go it there for another winter, and I’m so thankful that Laura enabled us to avoid that grim possibility (our whole process took from July through December). This was a long review, yes, but buying and/or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. It is also, as I learned, incredibly involved and emotionally taxing. Therefore, you want someone by your side who genuinely wants what’s best for you, and not someone who is just thinking about getting their commission and moving on to the next one.
